After the management contract with Intercontinental ended last year, the owner of Continental Resort decided to encourage Philippe de Vizcaya, who had managed the hotel successfully for several years before and was a major factor behind the success of the resort under Intercontinental management, to be the new General Manager.
The first step Philippe de Vizcaya took was to begin a renovation of all the hotel rooms, suites, the lobby and the famous Captain’s bar. To attain even higher standards than the hotel offered when it first opened, he selected the most famous company for interior design, Heba Shelbaya Design Group, lead by Mrs. Heba Shelbaya, who has already done outstanding work fully or partially renovating some of the most famous hotels in Egypt such as the Nile Hilton, The Mena House Oberoi, The Winter Palace, The Sheraton Luxor and the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
By then, a considerable amount of money will have been invested so that the guests can spend their holidays in a new, fresh and very stylish property.
Parts of the furniture have been replaced in all the rooms, new bedding, including duvets and pillows have been applied, all fabrics (curtains, bed skirting, head boards, chairs) have been replaced and a complimentary coffee tray has been placed in all the rooms. All the suites have been equipped with 40 inch LCD screens.
As part of the room renovation, the cleaning of the mattresses was done by the most advanced German system of its kind worldwide. Continental Hurghada is proud to be the first hotel in the Red Sea to receive “The certificate for Healthy Living” from Potema. The approved Cristal Hygiene Standards as well as HACCP Standards are being applied.
Most of the staff that used to work with Philippe de Vizcaya in the resort under Intercontinental management returned after he came back to manage Continental Resort as they recalled the positive working atmosphere and success achieved during the period they worked together. As a result you will probably find the best hotel management team in Hurghada at Continental Resort. The hotel rating of holiday check increased from 70% to nearly 90% during the last months, one of the highest ratings for a resort on the Red Sea.
