Summer Book Fair as a part of Festival “Reading for All” under the Patronage of the First Lady held during July 2009

Owners of the bookshop at Zabargad “Red Sea Bookstores” -Mazen Okasha and his wife Dr. Beke organised a Summer Book Fair in Mamsha area in front of Esplanada Mall in collaboration with the Mubarak Public Library & Hurghada City Council. It was a very well received and a successful idea to change the place of the exhibition from Dahar, where it was last year, to El Mamsha this year. Many more people had a chance to visit the Book Fair and find a huge variety of interesting colourful books.

Included in this book Fair were thousands of different titles in different categories –including Fiction, Language Studies, Egypt’s History and Culture, Tourism, Cooking, Diving, Children’s School Books, and many more.

Macmillan, Longman, Oxford, Cambridge, Penguin, American University Press Cairo, Dar al Shorouk, Langenscheidt Ladybird were just some of the publishers who attended to welcome the visitors.

The ambition and aim of the Red Sea Bookstores was to support education in Hurghada and to make reading more popular again. We wish that the Summer Book Fair will gain momentum and get more support so it can become a regular event in Hurghada, especially at the El Mamsha area.
