The Red Sea Opera is presenting its first production, Humperdinck’s “Hänsel and Gretel”, on March 25 at the Magawish Swiss Inn Resort.

After months of searching for a suitable venue for its performances, the Red Sea Opera has finally come to nest in the Magawish Swiss Inn Resort. Says founder, Ann Jennings, “Over the past few months we have looked at more theatres, amphitheatres, tents and open spaces than I care to remember – all of which presented problems of various kinds. When somebody suggested the Magawish Swiss Inn Resort we thought it would be another of the same, but boy were we surprised! It’s a fabulous theatre with wonderful acoustics, flexible seating and great facilities. When we met with General Manager, Michael Nassif, he was so incredibly supportive and positive - we knew we were home!”

The opera, “Hänsel and Gretel”, is based on a children’s fairytale written by the Brothers Grimm. The cast will include international performers from Germany, UK and Ireland, adult and children’s choirs from the Sing & Musik Akademie of Hurghada, a ballet group of 14 angels from the Sabirova Dance School, a group of children from locals schools including the French and German schools, and orchestration provided by leading musicians from Cairo.
