Diesen Genuss hatte ich bereits im Oktober und notierte: „Frucht und Fülle kennzeichnen diesen „mediterranen Athleten, Der Nachklang ist kraftvoll - ohne Ecken und Kanten. Dieser Wein ist gelungen und ich verstehe nun, was Labib Kallas mit Geduld meinte, als wir vor einem Jahr eine leidenschaftliche Diskussion über seinen Jardin du Nil White 2008 hatten. Meine kritische Einstellung zu dieser Rebsorte hat sich inzwischen nicht geändert, aber was er daraus gemacht hat, das verdient Respekt! Seine Anerkennung durch die gewonnene Medaille ist sicher nur ein erster Schritt zu weiteren Erfolgen. Ich bin sicher, dass er mit seinem Jardin du Nil Red 2009 die nächste Medaille gewinnen wird - und ich würde mich nicht wundern, wenn dies eine Goldmedaille wäre.

Now it is finally in the stores and we can drink it. I had the pleasure to taste the Jardin du Nil in October and noted: fruity taste and richness characterize this "Mediterranean athlete” who will soon prove its maturity to take part in international competition. Shortly after "The Challenge Millesime Bio 2011 (4ème édition)” was held on 15th of November 2010, and was rewarded the constant striving for optimization with a silver medal.

I personally like the slightly greenish reflections of this wine, which provide for me refreshing impressions in the world of golden wine. The bouquet would be surprisingly fine and fruity even for a Mediterranean wine, but for a wine from the edge of the desert, it is extremely aromatic.

The palate is unexpectedly complex; during tasting of this wine you can’t really say what develops first: acidity, subtle bitterness, richness, flavor variety... I do not think I have had comparably good Vermentino wines from Italy.

The sustain is powerful - no rough edges. This wine is well done and I understand now what Labib Kallas said patiently one year ago, when we had a passionate discussion about his Jardin du Nil White 2008. My critical opinion to the Vermentino has not been changed, but what Labib Kallas made of it - that deserves respect! His recognition gained by the Silver Medal is certainly only a first step to further success. I am sure the Jardin du Nil Red 2009 will win the next medal - and I would not be surprised if this were a gold medal.
