Compressor Filters

Can you tell us about the Bauer Filter Cartridge?

The compressor filter cartridge is one the most important parts of any compressor unit.   Problems concerning the safety of the cartridge units have arisen over the past couple of years due to diving centres choosing to open the filter cartridges which are sealed units and refill them with the molecular sieve and active carbon compound, the sealed cartridges purchased from Bauer are tested to withstand up to 300 bar of pressure.   These make shift cartridge are dangerous.

What are the main concerns for Bauer?

Safety for the operators of our compressors, there has been accidents recently where the re-used cartridges have in fact exploded and there have been injuries.  Therefore Bauer is offering to the market here in Egypt only a new refillable cartridge for the Bauer compressor units.   The cartridge is reasonably priced and has been tested to the exacting safety standards expected from Bauer.   They are made from stainless steel unlike the aluminium sealed cartridges.

What is a Molecular Sieve?

The molecular sieve is a compound especially designed to be placed in the filter cartridge its purpose is through a chemical reaction to draw out the moisture from the compressed air.  Our molecular sieve comes in vacuum sealed 1 kilo tins; however there are cheap alternative compounds available here.  The reality of it is that you end up buying more of the cheaper quality product to do the same job as our original branded product.  The cheaper product has been exposed to moisture as it is not packaged correctly and this product has a short life period.   Our vacuum sealed packaging even once opened is re-sealable and all our products have a “use by date”.

How important is the small filter inside the cartridge?

The small circular filter that sits at the top of the cartridge must allow the air to freely pass through; this is to avoid the build up of pressure inside the cartridge and to catch any air particles. The Bauer filter is soft, supple and light, unlike the copy filters which are found here they are thick compressed fibre allowing no flexibility and increasing the pressure trapped within the filter cartridge.

I f you would like further information, or a demonstration of the new refillable cartridge system for the Bauer compressors please contact: Alexander Abbas – Service Manager on Tel: 065 355 27 47
