Hello, my friends, here I am again! I hope to find you all in the best of health and rejoicing in life.
This time I would like to tell you about a positive trend. I have been living in Hurghada for many years and waste disposal is a big problem here.
On the one hand we have the men from the city cleaning department who regularly sweep the streets and see to it that the rubbish that has been dumped in the back streets gets put into garbage bags and is collected. You can see them in the streets from early morning till late in the evening. It must be very arduous, particularly in summer, to work all day long in the scorching sun.
A request to all drivers: please drive past the street sweepers slowly and carefully so that they are not injured or given a scare. Surely we owe them that.
On the other hand, since the beginning of this year HEPCA (Hurghada Environmental Protection and Conservation Association) is addressing the garbage problem. Usually HEPCA is actively working in the protection and preservation of the natural resources of the Red Sea and Egypt.
Now the organisation has gradually been distributing red dustbins in Hadaba, which are emptied twice daily. They have also put up promotional signs saying “Keep Hadaba clean” Thank you HEPCA!!! Who would have thought that this would come to Hurghada and that our city could make such a positive development?
To obtain such a dustbin, simply contact HEPCA. The dustbins don’t cost much and are a good start towards keeping our city cleaner.
We should all do our best so that everything is smartened up, the tourists feel comfortable and want to come back to Hurghada on the beautiful Red Sea.
Many thanks to you all for your cooperation.
Yours, Susanna
