Hurghada’s first Spring Carnival took place the 1st of May 2016 under the auspices of the Red Sea governor, General Major General Ahmed Abdallah.
The all-day event started in the morning with the opening of an 1800 meter long bike path. Over 100 bicyclists took part and followed the road together with bikers and runners till the end of El Mamsha, where the area in front of Samra Bay was prepared for the big festival. Thousands of people, Egyptians, foreign residents and holiday makers came to celebrate Easter and Sham El Nessim, the Egyptian Spring festival which roots go back to the Pharaonic Era 4500 years ago.
The day was full of fun for children and adults alike enjoying activities that included painting workshops, gypsum sculpting and coloring, face painting, Origami, Arabic calligraphy, storytelling and poetry, Speed Ball, arm wrestling, Karate and Kung Fu shows and so much more.
The evening featured a thrilling performance of famous Egyptian singers, local and international dance groups, circus performers, a fire show, Tanoura and a fireworks display. The day's event concluded with the Governor of the Red Sea, General Major Ahmed Abdallah awarded the participants for the carnival. Many other distinguished officials were in attendance for the gala show. It was a great day, well organized by the government and participants, showing once more that Hurghada and the Red Sea are safe, a great place to live in and a beautiful holiday destination.
